Maui Pre Ceremony Photography: should you or shouldn’t you? As wedding planners, we always recommend including some time for pre-ceremony photography in order to capture all of those little details that took months for you to decide on. Your wedding dress, your ring, your hair and makeup, having all of those details together and ready for your photographer to capture will help to tell the complete story of your day, especially if you’ll be putting together a wedding album. Scheduling pre-ceremony photography will also allow each of you to share the moments you spent getting ready before the ceremony, as in most cases, you’ll be getting ready separately. These moments are always filled with so much emotion and are so much fun to look back on.

This pre-ceremony session took place at the gorgeous Olowalu Plantation House with our bride Sylvia and her bridesmaids. Jill of Meewmeew Studios shares why she loves when the bride and groom schedule in pre-ceremony photography with her:

Pre-ceremony photography is my favorite part of the entire wedding day shoot! I always encourage brides to allocate more time (1-2 hours) for this session because it’s very important, especially in Hawaii. This is the time when we can be more creative with all the details that make each wedding extra special. It’s also a great time to capture the fun getting-ready moments for both the girls and the guys. I LOVE the Cinderella moment when the bride gets into her gown and shoes, and when mom and dad see her for the first time with so much pride. The emotion, excitement and even nervousness make the wedding story complete. Another very important aspect of this session is the bridal portraits. Due to the humidity and wind on the islands, it’s hard to keep the hair, makeup, dress as perfect as when the bride first gets ready. I use this time to take some of the most stunning bridal portraits, both full length, and close-ups.

We couldn’t agree more and encourage you to contact us to ask any questions you may have about adding in some time to your wedding day photography to make sure these special moments are captured!
