Makena Weddings absolutely loved planning this colorful Maui wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House for Katelyn and Alex! This beautiful couple envisioned an elegant, oceanfront ceremony with a burst of colorful blooms surrounding them as they said their I Dos while allowing the picturesque Olowalu Plantation House with its towering palm trees and gorgeous ocean backdrop to take care of the rest! Guests were seated in lovely crossback chairs with a rustic wooden wedding arch draped with soft, flowing fabric and brightly colored blooms that served as a focal point of their ceremony. The couple chose for their wedding to be “unplugged” which means that guests were asked to put away all cameras, cell phones and iPads in order to be fully present for their heartfelt ceremony. We love that they chose to do this for many reasons, one being that you won’t see people holding electronics over their heads or in the aisle in their professional wedding photos. It’s definitely something to think about when planning your own Maui wedding.
After their ceremony the celebration continued with signature wedding cocktails by Aloha Bars Maui, and a charming reception dinner under the stars. Guests enjoyed the romantic ambiance of hanging crystal chandeliers as they dined at rustic farm tables under rustic wooden canopies draped with sheer fabric courtesy of Paradise Event Rentals.

From the arch decor to the matching bridal and bridesmaids bouquets to the boutonnieres, we were able to create the colorful yet elegant Maui wedding that they had always dreamed of.
