The beautiful Sugar Beach Maui wedding of Tyishia and Jerry was decades in the making. This sweet couple met at a holiday party of mutual friends 17 years ago! Fast forward 10 years later and they met again at the same couple’s holiday party, became friends, and a year later, in 2011, went out on their first official date. We absolutely love hearing about how fate brings our Maui wedding couples together, it sincerely warms our hearts. Tyishia and Jerry, along with Tyishia’s son, Jaxson, were meant to be together and the love between them all was so heartwarming and apparent. Jerry proposed to Tyishia in front of the Christmas tree in Union Square, the same location as their first date. Their son was there for the big moment and captured it all on video.
The bride and her bridesmaids enjoyed the airconditioned bridal suite at Sugar Beach Events as they helped Tyishia into her dress and toasted to the beautiful bride. After that the bride and groom shared an intimate first look before they exchanged vows at their ceremony. Having a first look is a special way to share a moment alone before all of the festivities begin. It also helps to calm each other’s nerves and just have a quiet moment to express your love for each other in private before you do so in front of family and friends at your ceremony.
The couple’s wedding vision was to have an intimate, oceanfront affair with a tropical flair in shades of purple and white. They were married under a 4-post wedding arch that included a beautiful floral arrangement on one corner, draped with white flowing fabric. Their dark wood farm tables were adorned with tropical fruit and flowers and their place settings included each guests name calligraphed on a tropical leaf as a special touch.
Their entire day was absoultey perfect and we loved getting to know Tyishia and Jerry as well as being a part of watching their love for each other unite their two families together as one. It was truly an honor to be chosen as their Maui Wedding Planner, mahalo and congratulations to the happy couple from the bottom of our hearts!
