Kristen and Matt, both from northwest Ohio, had never been to Maui before; so when deciding on the perfect location for their destination wedding, Maui was it! This gorgeous couple met at the gym, a mutual friend set them up on their first date, and the rest is history! Nine years after that and they have found themselves on one of the most romantic islands in the world, surrounded by their closest family and friends, to celebrate their wedding. Of course, we asked to hear their romantic proposal story, the bride shares:

Matt proposed to me on my birthday. He had asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said I just wanted him to bake me a cake, haha. So he did and spelled out, “Happy Birthday! Will You Marry Me?” with candy letters on the cake.

Their Maui wedding was just as sweet, as the couple wanted to enjoy a simple, intimate celebration with good food and pretty, Hawaiian decor. Their ceremony decor included a 2-post dark wood wedding arch with gorgeous floral decor in bright shades of coral and pinks. Kristen carried an absolutely stunning bouquet that complimented the rest of the wedding design perfectly. After romantic sunset photos, their guests were seated at long, dark wood farm tables with monstera leaves set at each place setting. Overhead, vintage chandeliers were hung which created a romantic glow after the sun went down.

It was such a beautiful celebration and we were so honored that the bride and groom chose Makena Weddings as their Maui Wedding Planner! Congratulations to the happy couple and Mahalo from all of us at Makena Weddings!
