Lauren and Melis had the most gorgeous Maui wedding on an absolutely perfect day. It was romantic, whimsical and so beautiful in every way possible. The island of Maui was the couple’s first big vacation together and they knew from the moment they landed that this was island was going to be their special place. So having their destination wedding here on Maui was an easy choice for them to make.

We absolutely loved hearing about how this fun couple met and of course it was in one of the most incredible ways. The bride shares:

We are a BLIND DATE success story. I was visiting Boise while living out of state and was out to lunch with my mom and sister when they had the “funny” idea of setting me up on a date. They proceeded to text a family friend asking if he had any single friends that would take me out. I was HORRIFIED! Within an hour I received a text from an unknown number, it was Melis. My number was given to him by the friend and he figured why the heck not take a random girl on a date. Within minutes of texting him, he had me laughing. At the blind date the next night we had the most authentic, natural conversation. That was followed by a few months of long distance texting that lead me to moving back to Idaho to start a relationship together. Seven years later, I’m thankful for my mom and sister and their idea.
Melis proposed to me on the drive up to McCall, Idaho – a mountain town we love to vacation at in the winter. While driving, he pulled off the side of the road next to the river and snow to drop down on one knee and surprise me with the most amazing proposal and custom diamond ring! I couldn’t have been more surprised.

They imagined having a whimsical and romantic wedding by the sea in shades of whites and purple with touches of greenery, surrounded with their closest family and friends. They wanted to share the beauty of Maui with their guests and help them see why this island stole both of their hearts.
