At our core, we believe that love deserves to be celebrated in the most meaningful of ways—whether it’s a wedding, a vow renewal, or the very moment someone says “yes.” Recently, we had the joy of curating a truly unforgettable surprise Maui beach proposal, a story that unfolded against the glow of golden hour on one of the island’s most picturesque shorelines.
The bride-to-be thought she was simply stepping onto the sand for a sunset portrait session in Maui during her vacation. With the Pacific stretching endlessly behind them and the sky painted in soft shades of peach and lavender, she had no idea that her life was about to change. As the photographer gently guided them into place, Ryan dropped to one knee, transforming what seemed like a casual photoshoot into the beginning of forever.
To make the moment even more personal, we orchestrated a butterfly release—a thoughtful touch inspired by her deep love of butterflies. As the newly engaged couple embraced, the butterflies fluttered into the evening air, delicate symbols of beauty, transformation, and new beginnings. In a stroke of serendipity, one butterfly lingered on her gown, accompanying them through part of the portrait session as if it, too, was celebrating alongside them.
The proposal was intimate, romantic, and uniquely theirs—an experience that perfectly captured the heart of their relationship while showcasing the natural beauty of Maui. It was an honor to design this magical moment, and we are overjoyed to share that we’ll also be planning their Maui wedding next year.
