We love a good proposal story, don’t you? It’s one of the first things that we ask our couples and we absolutely love hearing all of the fun ways that our couples get engaged. The story of Crystal and Andrew is so sweet, we love their cute proposal story:
We went to Maui for our Babymoon in January of 2019 to celebrate Andrew’s birthday and take a trip together just the two of us before our son was born in May. We started our trip on Oahu because I had a work meeting there and when we got to Maui, Andrew was eager to snorkel every day and very insistent on me snorkeling too one day when we went to Black Rock Beach. It was more difficult for me because I was pregnant and out of breath quicker so I kept going back to the beach to relax (and eat snacks)! He finally convinced me to go out in the ocean with him again and dove down and said he found a small treasure chest full of gold coins. There was a bag in the chest too that had scratchers so we brought it in to the sand. He said lets scratch off the scratchers, (I said no, lets wait until we get into the room- oops haha!) and he scratched one off and handed me the other one. I started scratching it off and it said, Will you marry me? and when I looked up he was on one knee in front of me with a ring. I was shocked! It was a very elaborate and creative plan that I unintentionally tried hard to ruin but he pulled it off. Some funny backstory is that we had an ultrasound scheduled right before we left and it was a very important one, the anatomy scan, and I was so nervous and Andrew was supposed to meet me there and he was late. I was standing outside the doctor’s office waiting impatiently for him and yelling at him that he couldn’t come in to the appointment because he was late and it turns out, he had been at my parent’s house asking my dad for permission to marry him. My brother was home and recorded the whole thing from down the hall!
This sweet couple has so many wonderful memories of being in Maui together so of course they chose to come back to the place they got engaged to have their destination wedding. The bride requested that pink roses be incorporated into her wedding flowers for a personal, sentimental reason, so we had the most beautiful touches added to their driftwood wedding arch as well as her beautiful wedding bouquet. The couple also wanted a mix of elegant, classic with a bit of boho and with the combination of their gorgeous ceremony and the bride’s light flowy gown, we think that their requested look was definitely achieved!
They enjoyed a beautiful ceremony which incorporated their beautiful son, and afterwards, they celebrated with their family and friends with a lively cocktail hour before they left the property for dinner. It was such a fun day and we truly enjoyed every minute of the planning process with this beautiful family.
